CLIENT INSTRUCTIONS:
Plan on around 5-15 minutes per bureau. Try to avoid calling the bureaus on Mondays since they are closed on the weekends they can have longer hold times.
Equifax:
- Step 1: Call Equifax at 1-800-203-7843, there will be a brief recording and then a live agent will answer.
- Step 2: The agent will ask you for a confirmation number, tell them you don’t have one and provide them with the info they are requesting. Name, social, address, etc…
- Step 3: Advise the agent you need to get dispute comments removed from your credit report but ONLY the accounts you list. The others can stay!
- Step 4: They will ask you for your email address so they can send you confirmation when the disputes are removed.
- Step 5: Don’t trust the email confirmation and please call back the very next day to check if the comments have been removed. We have found if they are not removed by the next day Equifax did something wrong and you need to submit the request again.
Experian:
- Step 1: Call Experian at 1-855-246-9409
- Step 2: You will be prompted to input several pieces of personal identifying information (social security number, zip code, house number, date of birth, etc…)
- Step 3: Press Option 2: For general questions regarding your credit report.
- Step 4: Press Option 1: For questions about your credit report.
- Step 5: Press Option 1: For general questions about your credit report.
- Step 6: Let the agent know you need to get SOME “dispute comments” removed from your credit report and to please ONLY remove the dispute comments you state. The agent will put in a request to have these comments removed. They may ask you if you agree the way the account is currently reporting and you will need to say YES to get the disputes removed. It should only take 24 to 72 hours for this request to be completed and they will send you a verification email after these comments have been removed.
- Step 7: Again, please call back the very next day to check if the comments have been removed. We have found if they are not removed by the next day Experian did something wrong and you need to submit the request again.
Transunion:
- Step 1: Call Transunion at 1-800-916-8800
- Step 2: At the recording press option 4 to speak to a representative, then press option 2 that you don’t have a Transunion identification number.
- Step 3: Ask to be transferred to the “Special Handling Department” let the agent know you were speaking with them before and got disconnected (these are the best people in the office to help you process your request). Let the agent know you have specific accounts showing dispute comments and you need to have those comments removed. (SOMETIMES WILL ADVISE YOU IT CAN TAKE 30 DAYS BUT IT IS USUALLY REMOVED IN 24 HOURS OR IMMEDATELY)
- Step 4: The agent will go through the accounts in dispute with you one by one, AND REMEMBER TO ONLY HAVE THEM REMOVE THE DISPUTES YOU SAY, THE OTHERS CAN STAY!
- Step 5: They will mail confirmation to you at your mailing address when the disputes are removed.
- Step 6: Again, please call back the very next day to check if the comments have been removed. We have found if they are not removed by the next day Transunion did something wrong and you need to submit the request again.
